The SWAZI Assegai Jacket is a lightweight, windproof men’s softshell designed for outdoor work, country pursuits and everyday wear in mild, blustery and showery conditions.
Made from AEGIS® Windshield 3-Layer softshell fabric, it provides complete wind protection while remaining breathable and water-resistant. The woven outer fabric has useful stretch for freedom of movement, while the brushed fleece backing provides warmth and comfort.
A full-length front zip makes the jacket easy to put on and allows quick ventilation when activity levels increase. An external chest pocket and two zipped hand-warmer pockets provide secure storage for everyday essentials.
Finished with an adjustable hem pull cord, the Assegai can be drawn closer to the body to help keep out cold draughts. Smart enough for everyday use and practical enough for demanding outdoor conditions, it is a versatile outer layer that can be kept in a vehicle, work bag or daypack.
The Assegai is made from SWAZI’s AEGIS® Windshield fabric. Its breathable polyurethane membrane creates a barrier against cold wind while allowing moisture vapour to escape.
This helps protect the wearer from wind chill without trapping unnecessary heat and moisture during active outdoor use.
The three-layer softshell combines a woven polyester outer with stretch fibres for greater freedom of movement. It is suitable for outdoor work and activities involving regular walking, lifting, reaching and bending.
SWAZI lists the fabric composition as 82% polyester and 14% spandex, with a polyurethane windproof membrane.
A brushed fleece backing provides comfortable warmth against the body. This makes the jacket useful when cold wind is the main concern but a heavy insulated coat would feel unnecessarily bulky.
It can be worn over a shirt, fleece or merino base layer, depending on the temperature and level of activity.
The outer fabric has an 80/20 durable water-repellent treatment. According to SWAZI, the material remains 80% water-free during spray testing after 20 washes.
This provides useful protection from light showers and changeable weather. The Assegai is water-resistant rather than fully waterproof and should not replace a waterproof shell during persistent rain.
Two zipped hand-warmer pockets provide secure storage while offering a comfortable place to warm cold hands. A separate external chest pocket keeps smaller essentials accessible.
The zipped design helps prevent belongings from falling out while working, walking or travelling.
The adjustable hem pull cord allows the bottom of the jacket to be drawn closer to the body. This helps reduce cold air entering beneath the hem and improves comfort during windy conditions.
