Pack a flask, a spare jumper and a dog towel in a Camino and the one thing you need at the gate will usually be underneath all three. The webbing loops of YETI’s HitchPoint™ Grid give your most-used bits of kit a place of their own.
The HitchPoint Grid is YETI’s attachment system. Strips of webbing are stitched to the bag at intervals to form individual loops. You thread an accessory’s straps or clips through those loops. On a Camino or Hopper you can use them for a SideKick gear case, a Rambler Bottle Sling or small items with a suitable accessory clip.
Which YETI bags have a HitchPoint Grid?
Look at the outside of the Camino 35 Carryall or the Hopper Flip 12. You’re looking for short openings you can pass a strap through. The long carry handles serve a different purpose. The Panga Backpack also takes a SideKick, while YETI’s Crossroads bags don’t have this grid.

How do you attach a SideKick Dry 3L to a YETI bag?
If your tote regularly comes home with a damp dog towel inside, the SideKick Dry 3L gives your phone and car keys their own waterproof compartment. It’s a good choice for a waterside walk when you want to reach your phone without putting the whole bag down.
On the 3L case, undo the four straps on the back. Feed the bottom pair through separate grid loops and fasten them back onto the case. Repeat with the top pair, leaving one unused loop between the upper and lower straps on each side. Check all four are secure. For the waterproof seal, keep the magnetic opening clear of grit, close it fully and fasten the outer flap.
Which YETI Bottle Sling fits my Rambler?
On a picnic, putting the water bottle outside a Hopper means you can pour a drink without opening the cooler. The sling’s own clips mount directly to the grid on both Hopper soft coolers and Camino totes. Pinch the buttons to open the clips, slide them through the webbing, then rotate and press the sling against the bag. Give it a light tug before dropping the bottle in.
- Small Bottle Sling — for the 18 oz Rambler Bottle.
- Large Bottle Sling — for the 26 oz and 36 oz Rambler Bottles.
Check the capacity on the base of your bottle before choosing a sling. These sizes refer to Rambler Bottles; a handled mug has a different shape.
Can you clip a gundog whistle to a YETI Camino?
When you swap your training jacket for a lighter layer, it’s easy to leave the whistle in yesterday’s pocket. Two options from our gundog range are the ACME 210.5 for close work and the ACME 211.5 for distance and retrieval work. Both have a ring for a lanyard. If your dog already knows one of these pitches, stick with the familiar one.
You’ll need a separate small accessory carabiner. Pass its gate through one fabric loop and the whistle’s metal ring, then check it springs fully shut around both. Unclip the whistle when you want to use it. This works as a ring-and-clip arrangement; the whistles don’t come with a YETI mount.
Which accessories would we take on a country walk?
A Sunday walk with the dog? A Camino with the whistle clipped high on the outside leaves the middle free for the muddy towel on the way back. Lunch by the water? A Hopper with a Bottle Sling keeps your drink handy and the sandwiches tucked away. Taking your phone out for photos? Start with the SideKick so you have somewhere dry to put it between shots.
YETI HitchPoint Grid FAQs
Do I need a carabiner for YETI accessories?
The SideKick Dry comes with fastening straps, and the Rambler Bottle Sling has its own mounting clips. You only need to supply a connector for an item with a bare attachment ring, such as an ACME whistle.
Will a SideKick Dry fit a Hopper M20 backpack cooler?
Yes. YETI lists the Hopper M20 Backpack, Hopper M30 and Hopper Flip among the soft coolers that take a SideKick Dry. Use the exterior HitchPoint Grid so you can reach the pouch while the cooler stays closed.
Can I move my SideKick from a Camino tote to a Panga Backpack?
Yes. Both have a compatible grid. Undo the straps fully, remove the pouch and thread them through the new bag’s grid. YETI specifically names the Panga Backpack in its fitting guide.
Does the YETI Crossroads backpack take the same accessories?
The Crossroads range has no HitchPoint Grid. If you’re buying a backpack specifically to mount a SideKick Dry, look at the Panga Backpack.
Should I choose the 1L, 3L or 6L SideKick Dry?
At A Farley Country Attire, we’d start with the 1L SideKick Dry for a spare key and cards. Choose the 3L SideKick Dry if you regularly carry a few more pocket essentials, or the 6L SideKick Dry if several people’s small items need one dry place. For a particular phone or case, compare its measurements with the pouch dimensions before ordering.
Will my phone stay dry in a SideKick on the outside of my bag?
YETI rates the SideKick Dry as waterproof when its magnetic seal is clean and fully closed. Brush away grit, check that nothing is caught in the opening and secure the outer flap. The waterproof compartment is the pouch itself.
Can I wear the SideKick Dry 1L without taking my bag?
Yes. The 1L has two slots on the back for a belt up to 2 inches (about 5 cm) wide. That’s handy if you leave your Camino in the boot for a short walk.
Can I use the Rambler Bottle Sling without a Camino or Hopper?
Yes. Fit the supplied shoulder strap to carry the sling on its own. To mount it on a Camino or Hopper again, use the clips on the back of the sling.
Will any clip-on pouch fit the HitchPoint Grid?
Check the fastener on the exact pouch. A clip needs to pass through the webbing and close fully; a strap system needs the right spacing between loops. For a pouch with a manufacturer-confirmed fit on the Camino, Hopper or Panga Backpack, choose the SideKick Dry.
