SAPHIR MEDAILLE D'OR Suede & Nubuck Crepe Brush

The SAPHIR MEDAILLE D'OR Suede & Nubuck Crepe Brush provides a gentle and effective way to remove surface dirt, lift flattened fibres and restore the natural texture of delicate leather.

Its brush head is made from 100% natural crepe rubber, creating a soft, flexible and slightly sticky surface that attracts dirt with minimal effort. Unlike a conventional bristle brush, the crepe ribbon grips loose particles while helping revive the distinctive nap of suede and nubuck.

Finished with a compact hand-polished Sipo wood handle, this premium French-made brush is suitable for routine care of footwear, clothing, bags and other suede or nubuck accessories.

Natural Crepe Rubber

The cleaning surface is made from natural crepe rubber, chosen for its softness, flexibility and natural grip.

Its slightly tacky texture attracts dust and dirt from between the fine fibres of suede and nubuck. This allows the material to be cleaned without relying on hard bristles or excessive pressure.

Restores the Natural Nap

Regular wear can cause areas of suede and nubuck to become flattened, dull or uneven.

Gentle back-and-forth brushing lifts the fibres and helps restore a more consistent texture. It is particularly useful around toe areas, sides and other sections affected by everyday contact and movement.

Gentle Everyday Cleaning

The Crepe Brush is suitable for regular removal of dry surface dirt from suede and nubuck shoes, boots and accessories.

It is intended for light routine cleaning rather than washing heavily stained material. Persistent marks may require a specialist suede eraser or cleaning solution before the surface is brushed again.

Suitable for Footwear and Accessories

The brush can be used on genuine or imitation suede and nubuck items, including:

  • Shoes

  • Boots

  • Handbags

  • Belts

  • Jackets

  • Gloves

  • Other suitable leather goods

Always check the item’s care instructions and test on a discreet area before treating particularly delicate, pale or unusual materials.

Compact Sipo Wood Handle

The hand-polished Sipo wood handle provides a sturdy base and a comfortable grip during cleaning.

Its compact dimensions make it easy to control the pressure and direction of each movement, helping you work carefully around seams, edges and shaped areas.

How to Use

  • Make sure the item is completely dry before brushing

  • Remove the laces from footwear where possible

  • Test the brush on a discreet area first

  • Hold the wooden block comfortably in your hand

  • Brush the surface gently using short back-and-forth movements

  • Work across the complete panel for an even appearance

  • Pay additional attention to flattened or lightly marked areas

  • Avoid pressing down heavily on delicate material

  • Finish by brushing the fibres in a consistent direction

  • Follow with a suitable suede renovator or protector if required

For Stubborn Marks

The natural crepe surface is effective against dust, loose dirt and many light surface marks.

For sticky deposits or more persistent staining, use a specialist suede eraser or cleaner that is suitable for the material. Once the item is completely dry, use the Crepe Brush to remove remaining particles and restore the nap.

Brush Care

  • Use the brush at room temperature

  • Avoid storing it in very cold conditions

  • Keep it away from radiators and direct heat

  • Do not apply excessive pressure to the crepe ribbon

  • Wipe accumulated dirt from the rubber with a clean, dry cloth

  • Do not soak the wooden handle or rubber section

  • Allow the brush to remain dry between uses

  • Store it away from dust and direct sunlight

  • Keep separate brushes for very dark and very light materials where possible

  • Replace the brush if the crepe becomes damaged or excessively hardened

FAQs

What is the SAPHIR MEDAILLE D'OR Crepe Brush used for?

It is designed to remove dry surface dirt and light marks from suede and nubuck while lifting the fibres and restoring the material’s natural texture.

What is the brush made from?

It features a hand-polished Sipo wood handle and a cleaning surface made from 100% natural crepe rubber.

How does crepe rubber clean suede?

The rubber has a soft, flexible and slightly sticky texture that attracts loose dirt from the surface and between the raised fibres.

Is it suitable for nubuck?

Yes. It can be used for routine cleaning and maintenance of genuine or imitation nubuck.

Can it be used on synthetic suede?

Yes. It is suitable for both genuine and imitation suede, although a discreet patch test is recommended.

Does it restore flattened suede?

Gentle brushing can lift compressed fibres and help restore the material’s original nap and texture.

Can it remove stains?

It can remove loose dirt and many light surface marks. Deep, oily or persistent stains may require a specialist suede cleaner or eraser.

Should the suede be wet or dry?

Use the brush on dry material. If the item has been cleaned with a liquid product, allow it to dry completely before brushing.

How much pressure should I use?

Use light pressure and short, controlled movements. Excessive force can damage the crepe ribbon and may wear delicate suede or nubuck.

Why does the brush become darker with use?

The slightly sticky crepe surface naturally collects dirt and small amounts of colour from the material. This is expected and does not necessarily reduce its cleaning performance.

Can the crepe rubber be cleaned?

Use a clean, dry cloth to remove some of the accumulated dirt and colour. Avoid soaking the brush or using harsh cleaning chemicals.

Why should it be used at room temperature?

Cold conditions can cause natural crepe rubber to become less soft and sticky, reducing its effectiveness and potentially affecting the material.

Can I use one brush on different colours?

Yes, but colour and dirt may transfer between items. Using separate brushes for very dark and very light materials can help prevent unwanted marks.

Is it suitable for smooth leather?

It is specifically designed for suede and nubuck. Smooth leather is better maintained with an appropriate cleaning or polishing brush.

Can it be used every day?

Yes. Its soft natural crepe surface makes it suitable for regular light cleaning, provided gentle pressure is used.

What are the brush dimensions?

It measures approximately 12cm long, 4.3cm wide and 3cm high.
