SAPHIR MEDAILLE D'OR Cotton Cloth - 30 x 50cm

The SAPHIR MEDAILLE D'OR Cotton Cloth is a soft and versatile accessory for cleaning, conditioning and polishing fine leather shoes, boots and accessories.

Made from 100% natural cotton, it can be used to apply shoe creams and waxes evenly without being harsh on delicate leather. Once the chosen treatment has dried, a clean section of the cloth can be used to remove excess product and buff the surface to a refined shine.

Soft Natural Cotton

The cloth is made from soft natural cotton, making it suitable for controlled application on smooth and fine leather.

Its texture helps spread creams and waxes without the stiffness of a brush, allowing you to work carefully around toe caps, heels, seams and decorative leather sections.

Always make sure the cloth is clean and free from trapped grit before it touches the leather, as loose particles could mark a polished surface.

Applying Leather Creams

Wrap a clean section of cloth around one or two fingers and pick up a small amount of the chosen cream or conditioner.

Massage the product gently into the leather using small circular movements. Applying several light coats is usually more effective than using one heavy layer, which can leave excess residue and make the surface difficult to buff.

Applying Wax Polish

The Cotton Cloth can also be used to apply wax polish to smooth leather shoes and boots.

Its flexible shape provides good control when building thin layers across the toe and heel. When creating a high-gloss finish, wrap the cloth tightly around the fingers and use a clean, smooth section for each polishing stage.

Buffing to a Shine

Once the cream or wax has dried for the recommended time, use a clean area of the cloth to remove any remaining residue.

Buff gently using quick, controlled movements until the desired finish appears. For the best results, keep one section for applying products and another section clean for final buffing.

Generous Rectangular Size

The cloth measures approximately 30 x 50cm, providing enough material to fold, reposition and use for different stages of a shoe-care routine.

Its large size makes it easy to keep separate areas for cleaning, applying polish and producing the final shine.

How to Use

  • Remove loose dust and dirt from the item first

  • Check that the cloth is clean and free from grit

  • Fold the cloth into a comfortable working size

  • Wrap a clean section securely around your fingers

  • Apply a small amount of cream, conditioner or wax

  • Work the product into the leather using gentle circular movements

  • Follow the treatment manufacturer’s recommended drying time

  • Use a separate clean section to remove excess product

  • Buff the leather until the desired shine develops

  • Avoid mixing significantly different polish colours on the same section

Care Instructions

  • Keep the cloth clean and dry between uses

  • Store it away from dust and loose dirt

  • Use separate sections for applying and buffing products

  • Avoid using a heavily soiled section on pale leather

  • Do not reuse an area containing dark polish on lighter footwear

  • Allow solvent residue to disperse in a ventilated area away from heat or flames

  • Do not tumble dry a cloth containing polish or solvent residue

  • Replace the cloth when it becomes heavily clogged, rough or damaged

  • Follow the safety instructions supplied with every shoe-care product used

FAQs

What is the SAPHIR MEDAILLE D'OR Cotton Cloth used for?

It can be used to apply leather creams, conditioners and wax polishes, remove excess product and buff smooth leather to a shine.

What is the cloth made from?

It is made from 100% natural cotton.

Is it suitable for fine leather?

Yes. Its soft cotton construction makes it suitable for applying suitable care products to fine and smooth leather.

Can it be used with Mirror Gloss?

Yes. The cloth can be wrapped tightly around the fingers to apply thin layers of Mirror Gloss and help build a high-shine finish on firm toe and heel sections.

Can it be used with cream polish?

Yes. It is suitable for applying cream polish evenly across smooth leather.

Can it be used for buffing?

Yes. Use a clean section to remove excess polish and buff the leather after the product has dried for the recommended time.

Should I use the same area for applying and buffing?

It is better to keep separate sections for product application and final buffing. This prevents excess cream or wax from being transferred back onto the leather.

Can one cloth be used with different polish colours?

It can, but separate areas should be reserved for each colour. Using individual cloths for dark, light and Neutral products reduces the risk of unwanted colour transfer.

Is it suitable for suede or nubuck?

It may help with very light surface handling, but it is primarily intended for applying and buffing products on smooth leather. Suede and nubuck are normally maintained with specialist brushes and sprays.

Can it be used on leather bags or belts?

Yes, provided the care product being applied is suitable for the item’s particular leather and finish.

Is the cloth reusable?

Yes. It can be reused while it remains clean, soft and free from hardened product or abrasive dirt.

How large is the cloth?

It measures approximately 30 x 50cm, providing a generous working area for applying and buffing leather-care products.
