The Barbour Classic Durham Wax Jacket in Olive is a lightweight men’s wax jacket designed for versatile, year-round wear. Made from Barbour’s 4oz Sylkoil waxed cotton, it provides practical resistance to showers and wind without the heavier feel of a traditional 6oz wax jacket.
Its relaxed fit provides room for comfortable layering, while an interactive inner zip allows a compatible Barbour liner to be added for extra warmth. A generous hood, distinctive shoulder cape and adjustable waist complete this practical jacket for country walks, dog walking, festivals and everyday wet-weather wear.
Barbour’s lightweight 4oz Sylkoil has a soft, matte appearance that develops additional character through wear. The waxed finish helps protect against passing showers and cold winds, making the Classic Durham particularly useful during spring, autumn and changeable summer weather.
For colder conditions, a compatible Barbour zip-in liner can be attached inside the jacket. The liner is sold separately and can be removed when temperatures rise, allowing the Durham to adapt to different seasons.
The relaxed shape leaves room for knitwear, while the waist drawcord and stud-adjustable cuffs allow the fit and coverage to be refined. A large hood, shoulder cape, two-way zip and stud-fastening storm placket provide further protection when the weather turns.
Is the Barbour Classic Durham waterproof?
The Durham is water resistant rather than fully waterproof. Its waxed-cotton outer protects against showers but is not intended for prolonged heavy rain.
Is the Classic Durham a lightweight jacket?
Yes. Its 4oz Sylkoil outer is lighter than Barbour’s traditional 6oz waxed cotton, making it suitable for milder and changeable conditions.
